You Own the Business. But Who Owns You?

You own the business.

At least, that's what the paperwork says.

But if you can't leave for a week...

If every decision eventually finds its way to your desk...

If everyone gets paid before you do...

If your phone comes to dinner, vacation and probably the bathroom...

I have an uncomfortable question:

Who actually owns whom?

For years, we've measured successful businesses by revenue, growth, employees, locations and profit.

I think we're missing something.

A successful business shouldn't simply make money. It should create wealth for the person who took the risk to build it.

And I don't define wealth as money alone.

PROFIT
Does the business financially reward your risk?

CAPACITY
Can it handle more without simply demanding more of you?

LEADERSHIP
Can people make decisions and perform without constantly waiting for you?

FREEDOM
Do you have choices about how you spend your time?

LEGACY
Are you building something valuable beyond today's paycheck?

That's what The Owner's Dividend™ is about.
